The bigger picture

By ensuring that women and girls have equal access to education, healthcare, and decent work, we strengthen not only the economy and society — but, in a broader sense, humanity as a whole.

The role of Ukrainian women in Poland during this war is both unique and profound. In their new homes, many have taken on the responsibility of caring for children and elderly relatives — work that is essential yet often unpaid and undervalued. At the same time, women are disproportionately affected by the economic consequences of war, as their employment opportunities tend to be less stable and more vulnerable to disruption.

Refugee women in new countries often rely on informal or temporary work, leaving them vulnerable to poverty and exploitation. Ukrainian women face additional risks — exposure to gender-based violence, limited access to legal aid, childcare, and other essential services, as well as loss of income due to exclusion from the labor market.

The objective is within women's grasp. All they need is a little help.
