As part of the Restart project with the support of Foundation of Ukraine and with the financial support of the Soroptimist Wroclaw First Club (First Soroptimist International Club in Wrocław), we met with a psychologist on Saturday, 21/05, at 16.00 and discussed the topic “Fighting low self-esteem and blocking personal success”. Also before discussing important topics, in a spontaneous, warm atmosphere, we held an hour “speaking club” at 15.00.

Gaining self-confidence and using your potential in new living conditions.
We all lack self-confidence because we are left alone in a foreign country without the support of our relatives. Without proficiency in Polish our competitive ability in the labor market decreases. Learning takes time. Motivation weakens and this is normal in such a life situation. At the same time, we need to understand that each of us has great potential, which – especially in the conditions of new life – can develop quickly.
Self-assessment in conflict situations
This is a very relevant topic that we face in everyday life, and especially when we moving to another place where prevail foreign rules and stereotypes. How to properly assess the situation? How to evaluate your behavior? How to stay calm and take control of the situation and other issues were discussed with a professional psychologist.
Polish “Speaking Club”
07/05 at 17:00 in Concordia Design Wroclaw in Hall S4 a two-hour Polish “speaking club” was organized. All interested Ukrainian women and their children aged 9 – 12 were invited to participate. The event was held in a relaxed atmosphere. Without rating, notes and grammar. Only board games, good company and new acquaintances!
Stress and its impact on the family
For several months we have all been living in constant stress and anxiety for our family – both those who stayed in Ukraine and those who came with us to Poland. We also worry about ourselves because we feel the burden of change and adaptation to new living conditions. Temporarily or consciously – in the long run, we started life “from scratch”. How to overcome stress? How to work on yourself to alleviate our pain and strive for psychological balance?
05/05 in Concordia Design Wroclaw we worked on these issues in a group with a psychologist – Olena Khrapenko.
Session with a psychologist
Olena Khrapenko has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents and children who are in crisis, experiencing emotional disturbances and adaptation difficulties. She works with migrants from Ukraine. The meeting was dedicated to the topic – how to start “life from scratch”? We dispelled stereotypes about Poland and talked about the possibility of finding ourselves in a new reality.

Orientation meeting
Our psychologist Olena Khrapenko has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents and children who are in crisis, experiencing emotional disturbances and adaptation difficulties. Olena works with migrants from Ukraine and our first meeting was dedicated to the topic – how to start “life from scratch”? We dispelled stereotypes about Poland and talked about the possibilities of finding ourselves in a new reality. The second part of our meeting, conducted by Yulia Ananieva, a specialist at the Institute of Migrant Rights at the Ukraine Foundation, was dedicated to legalizing residence and work.
We also discussed issues such as the right to education, medicine, starting a business and the possibility of staying in Poland after the expiration of international protection status. We truly thank our strategic partner – Ukraine CUKR Foundation – Centrum Ukraińskie Kultury i Rozwoju, which actively supports us in our work for the benefit of Ukrainian women, as well as Soroptimist Wroclaw First Club – thanks to which the first steps of our initiative became possible!
